Musician, Scholar, Visual Artist

Glenn was born in Toronto, Canada in 1952. He began playing guitar at 12 years of age and piano at 15 and spent several years performing in rock and roll bands. While attending the Mariposa folk festivals in the early 1970s he developed an interest in folk music and was influenced by several artists who performed there including James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and Bruce Cockburn.

In 1972 he formed Walsh, Williams and Anderson. They played in many clubs and concerts and in the mid-1970s opened for the Stampeders. Though the group disbanded in 1976, they continued to work together on a part-time basis, performing in concert as well as in the studio. In the late 1970s Glenn worked with a number of other bands including a country rock/bluegrass group A Touch of Grass.

VESTIGES

Glenn’s debut CD VESTIGES, released in 2008, encompassed several decades of expression and featured earlier work such as the Music Box from 1977. Here is a feature article from Toronto.com on Glenn Williams and his release of Vestiges (link)‍.

Decades of Crafting Songs, Building Community, and Inspiring Audiences

Glenn completed his BFA in music in 1983 and MA in Art History in 1998 at York University in Toronto, Ontario. Musical highlights include participation in the Glendon Music Ensemble as a resident guitarist and vocalist from 2003 to 2006. The ensemble’s 2005 Latin concert Noche Latina was reviewed by York University’s on-line electronic newsletter Y-File. The review includes a specific reference to Glenn’s original composition Look up to the Sky (link).

‘Musically Yours’

In 2012 Glenn appeared on the Rogers Cable TV show Musically Yours. Parts 1 and 2 of Musically Yours show along with his live performance of Lazy Anne at the Rockpile night club are posted on GlennWilliamsMusic YouTube channel. His Interview for My FM Sessions was broadcast in August, 2013 on My Broadcasting Corporation affiliated radio stations. CONVERGENCE

Glenn was the feature artist at the BAKA Café Open Mic event as hosted by Ernie Guidoccio in Bloor West Village for several years until the venue closed in October 2025. Following the closure of the BAKA Café Glenn carried on with his musical activities including working on his CONVERGENCE EP. Recently, his song BETTER WORLD was playlisted on the June 18/2026 edition of the JUST US FOLK radio show.
